Historic Building Burns in Newton What had become a landmark in Newton/Jasper County is now a loss for not just its owners, Frank and Diane Ayers, but the community. Flames shot from the building in the early morning hours of Monday, September 12. The Wade Fire District, assisted by the Olney Fire Department, received the call around 6:00 a.m. and was on the scene shortly thereafter. The Old Mill, originally a grist mill, was built in 1857.
